Do you know the Tweakbench Breakdown Filter VST FX plugin? I like this plug very much, and at some point i decided to build an analogue incarnation of this grat tool.
It consists of eight (8!) independend multimode VCFs. The audio signal is routed to these filters using a sequential switch. So you can use completely different filter set-up's for each step.
Some may say it is a little bit overkill to use 8 filters, but alas, it gives you some more options...
